ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hope L. Harper is a native of Hampton, Virginia, where she currently resides. She was educated in the City of Hampton Public School system. She graduated with honors from Kecoughtan High School in June 1991, and she graduated from Virginia State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems and Decision Sciences. During her adolescent years, Hope participated in the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) program. She held various youth positions in the Hampton City Council and City Manager’s Office from the ages of sixteen to twenty-two, where she worked during the summers. In September 1998, she accepted a position as a System Analyst at Northrop Grumman Corporation where she is still currently employed as a Property Control Support Specialist, and has received awards and certificates in recognition of her achievements.
Currently, Hope is a member of Bethel Temple Church in Hampton, VA. Always with a willingness to serve in the community, Hope has volunteered in administrative and campaign management capacities for various elected officials in the City of Hampton. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Hampton Roads Community Action Program (formerly OHA) and Y.H. Thomas Community Center where she serves as Vice-President. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Chums, Inc.
Hope enjoys helping others, genealogy, visiting historical sites, shopping, and spending time with her family.
